Megumi Takani

Takani Megumi (高た荷かに 恵めぐみ?) is a secondary character in the Rurouni Kenshin series and the main cast's primary physician after her appearance. She is the youngest daughter of Takani Ryūsei, a well-known doctor in Aizu which was an important province supporting the Tokugawa Shogunate. During the Boshin Wars, her father died and the rest of her family went missing, leaving Megumi as the sole survivor.

She is an extremely skilled physician trained in both classical Japanese medicinal practices like moxibustion as well as, more impressively, modern Western practices like toxicology. She is very adept at identifying poisons and determining cures and can also treat broken bones and lacerations.
